Emmanuelle Beart's career takes off with Manon des Sources by Claude Berri in 1986, followed by Jean de Florette. Her acting leads to a César for Best Supporting Actress. At the same time she also acts in the theatre under the direction of Bernard Murat, Jean-Pierre Vincent, Jacques Weber and Luc Bondy. In the 90s she works with some of the greatest directors: André Téchiné (J'embrasse pas), Jacques Rivette (La belle Noiseuse) or Claude Chabrol (L'Enfer). Claude Sautet offers her two determining roles : a violinist who comes between the friendship of two musicians in Un Coeur en hiver (the film obtains the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1992) and a young woman in the middle of a divorce who be friends Michel Serrault in Nelly et Monsieur Arnaud - the film receives the Louis-Delluc Prize, among others, in 1995. Following Une femme française by Régis Wargnier, her career takes on an international flavour with Mission Impossible by Brian de Palma (1995). Up next is the film Le Temps retrouvé by Raoul Ruiz, followed by La Bûche by Danièle Thompson, Les Destinées Sentimentales by Olivier Assayas, La Répétition by Catherine Corsini and 8 Women by François Ozon (a collective Silver Bear at the Berlin Festival for the eight actresses as well as a European Award), Les Egarés by André Téchiné, Histoire de Marie et Julien by Jacques Rivette. In 2003 she works on Nathalie… by Anne ontaine and A Boire by Marion Vernoux. Appointed as French Ambassador at UNICEF in 1995, Emmanuelle Béart is world Ambassador since 2003.
