سيرة ذاتية
Director (Australia)
Born in Chinchilla in rural Australia, he graduated from medical school in Sydney, where he spent his income as an intern making short films with Byron Kennedy. Their 14-minute short, Violence in the Cinema, brought them 2 AFI Awards and courage to do a feature. This resulted in Mad Max (1979) and its two sequels (1982, 1985). In 1985, he joined Steven Spielberg to direct an episode of Twilight Zone The Movie. That year, Byron Kennedy died in a helicopter crash. Miller went on to direct his first Hollywood feature, Witches of Eastwick, and subsequently produced 4 miniseries, 3 TV films and 3 features: Dead Calm directed by Philip Noyce, Flirting and The Year My Voice Broke by John Duigan before he returned to directing with Lorenzo's Oil, which brought him in 1991 Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. His next film, Babe, (1995) which he bought, adapted and produced, was nominated for 7 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Screenplay Adaptation. Its unorthodox sequel, Babe: Pig in the City, is now in release.
