After her film debut in Antoine Desrosières’s À la Belle Étoile, Julie Gayet was given by Agnès Varda the leading female role in A Hundred and One Nights. It was her intense performance in Select Hotel by Laurent Bouhnik that revealed her to a larger audience (Romy Schneider Prize in 1996). Marked by her penchant for curiosity, her path as an actress is a subtle blend of delightful fantasies (Why Not Me?) and singular art-house films (Confusion of Genders and Shall We Kiss?). In 2007, this same curiosity motivated her to set up with Nadia Turincev the company Rouge International to produce films like Fix Me and Eight Times Up which brought her a Best Actress award at the Tokyo Film Festival. She will soon star in Géraldine Maillet’s first film.
