Around the selection 2012

Within the Festival de Cannes, the International Village is a microcosm which acts as a forum for world cinema. A focal point for exposure and  encounters, it is designed to provide a highly visible setting in which film producing countries can showcase their cultural identity, their institutions and the full range of their creativity. The pavillion of each represented country offers a dedicated space in which to set up exchanges with professionals from all four corners of the globe.

Both the "Riviera", where Ministers of Culture and Film Centres of foreign countries gather and the "Pantiero",  a hub primarily dedicated to French film-making  (CNC, Unifrance, SACD, CST, the filmmakers' forum.), are becoming increasingly internationalised year on year with the arrival of institutions and commissions from a range of new countries (Italia Film Commission, the Austrian Film Commission, the Belge Wallimages Fund, …)

Inaugurated in 2000, the Village initially played host to 12 countries and 15 pavillions. Twelve years later, over fifty countries enjoy a presence. For more information, consult the 2012 Village International brochure and the list of countries attending.
