November/December 1995. France is paralysed by the transportation strikes. Parisians, victims of monstrous traffic jams, confront the winter on foot or on their bicycles. Nadia, a young woman, survives on her limited unemployment benefits. She has been a mother for the last six months, raising Christopher all on her own. One day, while watching a television news story on the rail-road strikers at the Austerlitz station, she thinks she sees the child’s father, and decides to find him.
