14:04 16th session of the Résidence
The 16th session of the Résidence, presided by Gilles Jacob, welcomes six new candidates to Paris until 15 July 2008: Rebecca Daly (Irish, 28 years old), Nikias Chryssos (German, 29 years old), Adrian Sitaru (Romanian, 36 years old), Manuel Nieto Zas (Uruguayan, 35 years old), Yang Heng (Chinese, 32 years old) and Francisco Vargas Quevedo (Mexican, 39 years old). During their stay at the Résidence, they will be accompanied in the writing and preparation of their first or second feature film.
Since its creation in 2000, the Résidence has received more than ninety directors and assisted in the making of some fifty films which went on to fame at many festivals, such as, recently, that by Nadine Labaki, Caramel, with more than 500,000 entries in France, or that by Jaime Rosales, Solitary Fragments ("La Soledad"), which won the Goya Awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Male Hope), to be theatrically released in France in June, 11th.
