Director
President (France)
Director, screenplay writer and producer, Luc Besson had his first contact with the world of cinema at 17 on the shoot of a short film of Patrick Grandperret. He was his second assistant on Court-circuit and followed with Deux Lions au Soleil by Claude Faraldo, Loulou by Maurice Pialat, and even a James Bond, Moonraker. He also worked as Régis Wargnier's assistant on commercials. He met Jean Reno during a casting. Luc Besson wrote between two jobs. He shot a mucic video with the collaboration of Pierre Jolivet on 16 mm; this was his first real experience directing. Then he shot his first short, L'Avant Dernier, black and white, scope, with Pierre Jolivet and Jean Reno. It was presented at the Festival du Film Fantastique d'Avoriaz. He worked on the screenplay of a first feature film, entitled Subway. Because of the producer, he was forced to abandon the project and decided to develop L'Avant Dernier into a feature. This was the birth of LeDernier Combat. The film was well received at the Festival d'Avoriaz 1983 and won the Jury Prize and the Critics' Prize.
He then directed music videos : Serge Gainsbourg, Mon Beau Légionnaire and d'Isabelle Adjani, Pull marine.
